General Info

Tucked away in the peaceful setting of Plaza de Yuso, In Vino Veritas. Hostería San Millán feels like the kind of place you discover once and keep coming back to. The location alone sets the tone-quiet, scenic, and perfect for slowing down and enjoying a proper meal.

From the moment you sit down, the menu gives off a comforting, traditional vibe with just enough creativity to keep things interesting. One dish that really stands out is the Pochas con Almejas. It’s hearty yet delicate, with the beans and clams working together in a way that feels both rustic and refined. Then there’s the Entrecot-simple, well-executed, and exactly what you want when you’re craving a solid, satisfying main.

If you’re in the mood for something deeper in flavor, the Rabo is worth trying. It’s rich, tender, and clearly prepared with patience. Meanwhile, lighter options like small plates make it easy to share and explore more of the menu, especially if you’re dining with friends or family. The restaurant also offers vegetarian options, which is always a plus when you’re trying to accommodate different preferences at the table.

What really adds to the experience is the calm atmosphere. It’s a quiet spot, ideal for dinner conversations without the usual background noise you get in busier places. It’s also surprisingly good for kids, which makes it a flexible choice whether you’re planning a relaxed family meal or a low-key evening out.

When it comes to finishing your meal, the desserts don’t disappoint. The Surtido de Quesos con Membrillo y Nueces is a classic combination done right-balanced, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. And if you want something a bit more unique, the Helado de Leche de Oveja Bio con Nueces y Miel is a standout. It’s creamy, slightly nutty, and just sweet enough to end things on a high note.

Overall, this restaurant delivers a well-rounded dining experience. Between the thoughtful menu, the inviting location, and consistently positive reviews from visitors who appreciate its calm charm, it’s easy to see why it leaves a lasting impression.

What customers say?

“ This place is amazing! The food is delicious and the setting is in an old monastery, which gives it a really unique ambience. I would highly recommend it! ”

“ In Vino Veritas is located in the Hostería de San Millán, in the Yuso Monastery. It's a traditional restaurant, but not very large, so reservations are recommended, especially for groups. Today we enjoyed the special Easter Menu, and I found it to be excellent quality, beautifully presented, and generous portions at a reasonable price of €30 without drinks. There are many other options as well! For starters, the duck and foie gras cannelloni was very tasty, while the tuna tartare was very fresh—a great start. It's served with seeded or white bread. For the main course, the tuna belly was delicious, although again, it had a lot of salami, which might not be to everyone's taste. The entrecote was very tender, with tasty vegetables, but the potatoes were a tad dry. For dessert, the torrija (Spanish-style French toast) is a great choice, especially this week ;) while the cava/orange sorbet is very refreshing and perfect for finishing the meal The service is professional and attentive. However, there's a small area for improvement – we ate our starters at a normal/reasonable pace (i.e., not taking too long or talking too much, etc.), but they rushed us to bring out the main courses "because they were ready," and when they finally served them, they weren't piping hot anymore. This was a bit odd because they usually coordinate things a bit better to ensure the main courses are served at the right temperature. ”

“ Excellent service, friendly and professional. They have a very complete and high-quality lunch menu, as well as an à la carte menu with several very interesting options. The ambiance is also unbeatable. Very good value for money. Highly recommended. ”

“ Highly recommended!! The set menu costs €30 and is well worth it. For starters, we had the artichoke carpaccio with mushrooms, which was a delightful surprise, and the salmon tartare with guacamole and apple. For our main course, we had a good-sized baked turbot, cooked to perfection, and the white beans with clams, served in a small casserole dish that was easily shared by two people and were delicious. For dessert, we had the cheesecake and the orange and cava sorbet. I'm not familiar with their other dishes, but all our choices were excellent. The service was also quite quick and friendly. I will definitely return. ”

“ The restaurant is excellent, very comfortable, and in a prime location. The service was very good. The dishes were exquisite and beautifully presented. The price was under €100 for three adults and a child. Highly recommended. ”

“ The maître d' was very friendly and charming, recommending the wine. The rest of the team was more serious. The food was delicious. A good experience. ”

“ Our whole family went for lunch and we enjoyed it, but we were expecting something more. We ordered the set menu and shared beans, potatoes... the main courses were perhaps the weakest part, rather ordinary. The service was relatively friendly and quick. ”

“ The place is beautiful. For starters, we had caparrones (a type of bean stew) and zucchini ravioli. The caparrones were a generous and delicious portion; the ravioli was also very tasty, but if you have a big appetite, it might not be enough. For our main courses, we had grilled cuttlefish with black garlic aioli, which was superb; lamb chops that were also very tender and flavorful; and oxtail that melted in our mouths with its tenderness and exquisite taste. For dessert, we had a biscuit and caramel cake, chocolate fondant, and mojito sorbet. The only downside was that the mojito had too much ice and was a bit difficult to drink. To finish, we ordered three coffees. In conclusion, the quality was very good, although the price is perhaps a little high (the set menu was €25, and the coffees were €2 each). ”
